The exhibition "The Shining Stars: Petőfi and his time" in China, organised in collaboration with Back and Rosta Ltd, was a huge success in Shanghai last autumn. The story of the Hungarian poet reached hundreds of thousands of people. Our digital video displays contributed to the success, alongside the authentic and rare objects.

The timing of the exhibition, which ran from 1 August to 30 November, had two important purposes: the 200th anniversary of the birth of great Hungarian poet, Sándor Petőfi, and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Hungarian-Chinese diplomatic relations. To mark the occasion, Back and Rosta Ltd created a custom-designed, world-class touch-screen digital video wall.

Over the four months, the exhibition attracted more than 200,000 visitors, over a quarter of whom were children. Several dozens of educational programmes and workshops were organised for them at the Chinese Museum of Modern Press and Publishing, which hosted the exhibition.

The Shanghai institution displayed 165 works of art, 30 of which were real rarities - including glasses, pipes, chairs and special paintings - most of which came from Chinese and Hungarian museums and private collections. Our company participated in the realization of the project together with the Petőfi Literary Museum in Budapest and the Budapest History Museum.

Audio guides and interactive digital displays significantly enhanced audience engagement and the overall museum visitor experience. This time, Back and Rosta's unique Magic Wall consisted of three monitors and 86-inch displays, conveying information over a surface almost 4 metres wide. In addition to the photo collection, videos, interactive games and a variety of visual elements were displayed to inform the audience in several languages.

The exhibition "Shining Stars: Petőfi and his time" also had a brilliant impact on social media users, with more than one million views and a wide range of reviews and sharing posts. The traditional media coverage also speaks for itself, with 34 media outlets reporting on Petőfi and some 60 articles in the international press.

The Petőfi exhibition, which closed last autumn, fits in well with one of the new services Back and Rosta Ltd has been offering in recent years: organising international exchange exhibitions to act as a cultural-diplomatic bridge between countries and cultures. Through the example of the famous poet - and with our own digital interactive video walls - we have tried to stimulate openness, understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Hungarian nations.

"The success of the first Chinese Petőfi artifact-thematic exhibition will certainly contribute to more attention for museums' tasks such as international cooperation or the development of public education. We would like to continue to support this important mission with our global networking system, our technical innovations, especially our digital interactive video display, the Magic Wall," said István Back, one of the founding owners of our company.
